Due to hard use over a long time, this lid has become loose.

Without those bells inside, the whole case would turn over.
It normally stands upright and will not lean backward.

It requires much space too, just to open the lid and
   handle those bells.

The bottom of the case, showing the original hinges.

One of the original hinges, worn and bent backward.
It wasn't enough to bare the lid's size and weight.
Fastening by wood screws is not secure enough.

Larger hinges, bolted through the panel of the case
are necessary to hold all forces.

To drill the holes necessary to install the new hinges,
I removed the inner case and the plush lining.

To remove the inner case, detach the wood screw
on both sides of the case.

The linings are fixed by special glue and large staples.
I had to find those staples and pick them out first,
and ripped the lining (never tearing it down).
